Save the Trees
Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world's land area, but huge swaths are lost each and every year. The net loss of the world's forests is estimated at 7.3 million hectares (18 million acres) per year.
Deforestation has many negative effects on the environment. The most dramatic impact is a loss of habitat for millions of species. Seventy percent of Earth's land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.
Deforestation also drives climate change. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover they quickly dry out. Trees also help perpetuate the water cycle by returning water vapor back into the atmosphere. Without trees to fill these roles, many former forest lands can quickly become barren deserts.
Lancrest Architectural Products, made from polyurethane and Composite materials, are considered green and can be recycled back into the manufacturing process while also conserving energy. The use of these products as opposed to wood is a major step forward in the fight against deforestation. Also, in an effort to preserve our trees and minimize the impact on the environment, we do not offer a catalog in printed paper format.
Sustainable
Every year, the United States generates approximately 230 million tons of "trash" - Less than one-quarter of it is recycled; the rest is incinerated or buried in landfills. Although many are not aware of this, one of the most important environmentally friendly benefits of polyurethane is its ability to be recycled. Discarded polyurethanes can be sent back into the manufacturing process.
Ozone Depletion – Greenhouse Gases
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), along with other chlorine- and bromine-containing compounds, have been implicated in the accelerated depletion of ozone in the Earth's stratosphere. Unlike other manufacturers, Lancrest products are 100% CFC free and are made using only water as the blowing agent in order to avoid the use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
